Fat dissolver injections use a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the body and aids in the breakdown of dietary fat. When injected into targeted fat deposits, it destroys the fat cell membrane, causing the fat cells to break down and be naturally processed by the body.
The active ingredient is injected directly into the fat deposit using a series of small injections. It disrupts the fat cell membrane, causing the cell to release its contents. The body then naturally processes and eliminates the destroyed fat cells over the following weeks. Because the fat cells are permanently destroyed, results are long-lasting.
Treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Your nurse will mark the treatment area and administer multiple small injections. Some discomfort, burning, or stinging is common during injection. Swelling is significant and expected, typically lasting 3 to 7 days. Multiple treatments (usually 2 to 4 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart) are typically needed for optimal results.

Yes. The treated fat cells are permanently destroyed and do not regenerate. However, remaining fat cells can enlarge with significant weight gain, so maintaining a stable weight is recommended.

If skin laxity rather than fat volume is the main cause of the concern, dissolving fat can make laxity more visible, and we will recommend a skin-tightening treatment instead. It is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Suitability is assessed honestly at consultation before any treatment is booked.
