Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that use hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in your skin, to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and smooth deep lines and folds. Unlike anti-wrinkle injections that relax muscles, fillers physically add volume beneath the skin's surface.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are injected beneath the skin at specific depths and locations to add volume, lift tissues, or smooth lines. Different filler consistencies are used for different areas: softer fillers for delicate areas like lips and tear troughs, medium fillers for lines and folds, and thicker fillers for structural areas like cheeks, chin, and jawline. The HA also attracts and holds water, providing hydration to the treated area.
Dermal fillers are versatile and can address cheek volume loss, chin projection and definition, jawline contouring, tear trough hollows, nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, temple hollowing, and hand rejuvenation. Treatment times vary from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas being treated. Your registered nurse will conduct a thorough facial assessment, discuss your goals, and recommend a treatment plan. Most fillers contain lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) for comfort. Results are visible immediately, though final results are best assessed after any initial swelling subsides over 1 to 2 weeks.
Results are immediate, with the treated area showing restored volume or improved contour straight away. Minor swelling and bruising are common and typically resolve within 1 to 2 weeks. Results last 6 to 18 months depending on the product used, treatment area, and individual metabolism. Touch-up treatments can maintain your results over time.

Contact us immediately, at any hour, if you notice: skin turning white, dusky, or blotchy purple near or beyond the treated area; increasing severe pain; skin that is cold to the touch; or any change to your vision. Hyaluronic acid fillers have an excellent safety profile when administered by qualified practitioners. HA is a naturally occurring substance in the body and can be dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if needed. At Silk Clinical, all filler treatments are performed by registered nurses.
When performed by an experienced injector, absolutely. Our nurses focus on restoring balance and proportion rather than creating an overfilled appearance. We take a conservative approach, and it is always possible to add more at a follow-up appointment.
Most clients return to normal activities immediately. Swelling and bruising are common, especially in the lip area, and typically resolve within 1 to 2 weeks. We provide detailed aftercare instructions to minimise side effects.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This provides a safety net and also allows for corrections if needed. We offer a dissolver service at Silk Clinical.
Dermal fillers are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is an active skin infection near the treatment area. Some medical conditions and medications also affect suitability. Your nurse takes a full medical history at consultation and will tell you plainly if filler is not the right treatment for you, or not the right treatment yet.
