Botulinum toxin works by blocking the nerve signals that tell muscles to contract. When injected in small, precise doses into specific facial muscles, it temporarily reduces muscle movement in that area. This allows the overlying skin to relax and smooth out, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The treatment does not affect sensation, only muscle movement, and when performed by a skilled injector, results look natural rather than frozen.
Common treatment areas include frown lines (between the eyebrows), crow's feet (around the eyes), forehead lines, brow lift, gummy smile, puckered chin, and DAO/marionette lines.
